Job Description
Support Person in Bharosa Centres 2023 (Government Jobs / Sarkari Naukri). Bharosa Centre operating in Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate. The role of the Support Person in Bharosa Centres 2023 is critical in cases where the survivor is a child as defined under POCSO Act 2012. The Support Person also assists survivors of Rape in addition to POCSO survivors.
Under the POCSO Act 2012 “From the point of registering an FIR/complaint under the POCSO Act, the victim and their family are required to interact with the police machinery, medical officers and hospitals, the Magistrate, Special Court and/or Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), the concerned Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and other stakeholders – which in itself can be daunting and overwhelming (over and above the already traumatic experience of the crime itself), often dissuading them from pursuing the case altogether.”
Noticing this need for support at various stages, the role of a ‘support person’ was institutionalized in the POCSO Rules, 2020, to provide information, emotional and psychological support, and practical assistance which are often crucial to the recovery of the child. This can go a long way in helping them cope with the aftermath of the crime and with the strain of any criminal proceedings – in many ways a support person, acts as guardian ad litem(GAL) for the child.
The Support Person also assists survivors of Rape in addition to POCSO survivors.
In addition to hand holding and rendering and full case lifecycle support to survivors, the Support person also assists the Counsellor in the initial sessions with the survivor and other connected stakeholders.
Key Tasks include the following:
- Play the role of a guardian and guide the victim and family at different stages of the cases and in connection with interaction / meeting with various stakeholders.
- She will provide support to the victim / family at their door step if required by making Home Visits.
- She will support victims in their journey of rehabilitation by connecting them with Shelter Homes / Vocational Training Service Providers/ Training / Job Placement Agencies and Organizations/ long-term trauma counselling etc.
- Compensation / Sponsorship according to the needs of the victim.
- She will work as the nodal point for Victim Assistance Fund and Victim Compensation Schemes run by Government & DLSA.
- She will also be responsible for other work as assigned by the Centre Coordinator.
